I specialise in shelf-stable and acidified products, including alcohol and vinegar fermentation. This includes process optimisation, troubleshooting variability, and improving product consistency and performance. I’m at my best solving the problems that sit between product development and production – where things often get stuck, particularly in fermentation and biologically driven processes.

I support businesses with process improvement and the integration of new products and equipment into existing manufacturing environments. This includes leading the commissioning of new equipment and ensuring it works seamlessly within current production systems with minimal disruption.

I develop SOPs and technical documentation that are clear, practical, and aligned to recognised standards such as HACCP, BRC and SQF. My focus is on creating systems that support consistent production, audit readiness, and long-term operational success.

I’m Michael Britten. With over 15 years of experience working in and around SMEs who produce shelf-stable fermented products. I’ve worked with established manufacturers, growing brands, and research partners to deliver outcomes that are technically sound, commercially viable, and ready for scale.
